Episode Description
This week I’m talking to Kevin Flee - @diaryofachubbyyogi.
Kevin is a yoga teacher based in south east London and as his social handles suggest (I think there’s a love handle joke in there somewhere), Kevin is a larger chap, who is intent on promoting yoga for every body…that is, every one with a body!
Like a few of my other guests Kevin found yoga through being introduced to it by his sports coach as a complimentary practice and then got more into it following an injury which took him out of sports completely so we’ll hear more about what happened and I’ll also ask about his upbringing and childhood in South Africa.
After coming over to the UK following a period as a musician in a rock band, Kevin’s lifestyle had deteriorated, he was doing zero exercise and was worried about his health…we’ll find out what led him here to the UK as well as back onto his mat and what that experience was like. He’s said that going to public classes was like a hell for him as it was full of yummy mummies and as an overweight, tattooed bloke, sweating and out of breath, he felt he didn’t belong. But (thankfully) he stuck with it. Not only that, but Kevin embarked on yoga TT and teaches - so we’re going to hear more about this journey, what he thinks about being a more relatable teacher and he hopes to inspire more men like him onto the mat. I’m really excited to learn more about Kevin and was so pleased he agreed to let me interview him for That Yoga Woman’s Podcast. I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I enjoyed recording it!
Kevin's Savasana Sound is by Erik Satie and is called Gymnopedies - #1 is his favourite one so have a little listen.

The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast is a place where yoga teachers can tune in each week to learn, connect with community and gain inspiration. After a yoga teacher training it can feel like being left out in the wilderness for yoga teacher entrepreneurs. The business side of yoga is often not talked about as much as philosophy, anatomy and other topics covered in a yoga teacher training.
