Today we speak with Austin Hartel, Oklahoma International Dance Festival Artistic Director. Austin was a soloist and co-choreographer with Pilobolus Dance Theater, making appearances worldwide and on television. After his dance career, he joined the faculty of University of Oklahoma's School of Dance where he has coordinated the Modern Dance Program for nearly 20 years. This year was meant to welcome the inaugural Oklahoma International Dance Festival, featuring artists from around the world for performances and student workshops. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced all arts organizations to adapt to these times, and this festival is no different. Now, from July 26 – August 9th, students from all over will be able to participate in their online summer intensive, learning from an incredible faculty. Registration is open until July 15th, 2020.
