191 | How Long, O Lord (Psalms 13-17)

from Holy Lit: The Bible · host Allen

The Psalms we're covering today come from Book One of the Psalter, Psalms 1 through 41. This first book is almost entirely attributed to David, and these five poems would have been composed, performed, and preserved in the world of ancient Israelite worship, probably during or around the early monarchy, roughly the tenth century BCE, though many scholars think the final editing came later. This was a world where personal prayer and public worship couldn't be separated from political survival, where kings were also poets, and where the line between a prayer and a war cry was thin.Source:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AtykSJMusdGPo0GAtbJlAnTSMF20yMjX/view?usp=sharing
