本篇原载1913年11月《金陵光》第5卷第6期及12月《金陵光》第5卷第7期。伪君子之居乡而假愿者，即孔子所谓之乡愿（这里的乡愿指乡里中言行不一，伪善欺世的人，引用自《论语· 阳货》）。人之为伪，不必居乡，凡率土之滨皆可居。人之行诈，不仅假愿，凡君子之德皆可假。然必假君子之德以行诈，始谓之伪。故总名之曰：伪君子，从广义也。
