It's just the Olympic skateboard. What is straight? There's a part. Yeah, there is part.

Yeah, I don't like this. Not now, it's worked. I don't like it. Yeah, I know they are going to be involved.

But who's covering that? We're going to tell you the sports radio. This is the Olympic skate companion, Olympic street skateboarding companion. Welcome.

Hello. Me and John over here to break it down. Obviously it's already happened. Got busy lives.

They haven't got a full coverage anyway. So we're here to break it down for everyone who doesn't have a TV license and can't afford to go on Discovery Plus and spend like a, I don't know, five. It's got to be kind of right. It's got to be kind of right.

Easy. Yeah, something like that. But we've found it. John, we found it.

It's on BBC iPlayer. So if you don't have it, you're just going to be nice and listen along for you. We'll do some nice commentary, which actually will be better commentary than the event itself. Yeah.

Now, I will name check him as we go. You make this one old boy in here. I think he's quite a good comter. He did the snowboarding in the X Games and everything like that.

One of them is quite a good play by play. The other one, he gets it carried away, my liking personally. And we'll call him out on it. OK, so I will put the link is below.

The link is below. There will be a link below. There's no link below. All right, we'll find it yourself then.

The Olympics Day 3 Extra afternoon. Yeah. Day 3 Extra afternoon. So it's a long video, go to 47 minutes and pause it there.

It's a picture of the crowd getting ready for this monumental occasion. Yeah, so we join them from their second run. The first run has already been done. It's their second run.

And it will be too complicated to do two videos to divide it. And obviously, they get warmed up, mate. They must have been. It's all about the best trick, anyway.

Let's be honest. It is all about the best trick. It is all about the best trick. So get yourself lined up.

47 minutes in, pause it. We'll do a classic skate companion 3-2-1 and press play together. We'll be in all synced up, ready to go. So you ready, Jon?

I'm ready. Jon is like on the go. I've got a blue mountain. The classic turbo sponsor.

Unofficial sponsor of turbo. So yeah, 47 minutes. So we're 3-2-1, press play. So 3-2-1 and play.

And we're in. We're in. So the way the score and work for this is you have two runs, and your best score from one of your runs is accounted. And then there's five attempts at a best trick, and two of those accounted.

So you have three scores, a maximum of 300 points. So Richard's here straight away and a heel flip, front lip. I mean, yeah, this guy takes me by surprise. Yeah, it's like a nice run.

What eight he knows, grind. I'm going to have to turn these motherfuckers down. He's pissing me off. And then he sets up for the heel flip back.

He's like, no, he's down. That's deep power. Who does heel no slide? No one.

No one. Lovely kick flip. And then crook and oli flip. Little shift.

Hold it mate. It's impressive. It drops back down the flat bank. And then the very real backside board side.

What the fuck? And again, who does that trick? We all know who won this. I actually think this whole boy.

I've never heard of him. Never heard of him. I know he's Bryce McCarrie, who unfortunately for him. But he could ride as a big board.

Surely he could be a big time player. Yeah. But he's slavacian. Slavacian to be up there with the Americans and everyone else.

And like Brazilian. That's impressive. Yeah. I'm not too sure about the jersey mate.

I like it kind of sports jersey. But to me, that looks a little bit too clinical and less skateboarding for me. Yeah, that one's a bit... It's a bit of a carry-over one as well.

Yeah, they've all got their shoe sponsor on their top, it seems. Which is a bit... Well, there's two shoe sponsors in the men's final. It's carry-over or Nike.

Yeah, crazy. He's got 89.31, third position at the moment mate. Yeah. He must be happy with that.

He keeps himself in contention. And he's got this... He's a big old boy. Apparently he's a big old boy.

He has extra pride in his skateboards. But Tony machines specifically make him better boards. Which is cool. They're 70-bit boards mate.

But he doesn't... Wait for the... Wait for the... Wait for the trick section he turns on.

But he's obviously not. The thing is about these contests mate, you've got to be a contest skater. That's why you're not... Jocelyn didn't make the cut.

Hit the trade 50, you could be done. Attempts the big spin front board. Yeah. But he looks happy to be there.

Even though he didn't land his run. He's loving life. And I think at this point it's the second Olympics with the skateboarding. You've just got to feel so privileged to be in that situation.

I wouldn't be. I'd be jettied. There's no way... I'd love to be feeling like he's feeling like where it's not a big deal.

You're just enjoying it. You're down the park. I'd be wiggling out and just like if you get a connect with a kickflip. You're actually going to...

Get a flicker. You're just going to wiggle. I'll kelvin. Kevin has recorded that video.

Kevin has recorded that video. On his first run he got an 87.7 or other. He is a contest skater. He's got some tokyo.

He's got something tokyo. I'm sure he did. Quite possibly. Nice kickflip.

Snappy. Kickflip back to out of fakie mate. Swings it around. I'd prefer being switch and hitting something in switch but you don't want it.

And then throws out on the kickflip. No, it's running down the hub. I think that's a silly trick to be trying in a run mate. You may as well just hit the 50.

You can hit the 50. You've got a point. You're staying on the board. I think for the run that is the gimmick.

Just landed it. Just get a solid foundation. And then you're going to hit the 50. You're going to hit the 50.

You've got a 50. You've got a 50. You've got a 50. You've got a 50.

You've got a 50. You've got a 50. Anybody good foundation? And then throw out the special tricks.

Yeah. In a single trick section. What do you think to the park, though? It looks, it looks pretty cool.

I don't, I was saying at the time when I was watching it I really don't like the colors of it. The call it Stree. I would rather have, I know this is a bit obvious but I'd rather it have graffiti or the ramps on a bit darker. I'd like it to look StreeEl Rick to be Penida, just like a lovely little labander going through that thing.

That's not for me. It looks a bit too corporate. It looks a bit too limp. doesn't really look very street to me.

No, but it's also a field. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, people got riding now. Argentinian, right? Carlos, I think, well, yeah, I can't quite remember his name.

But yeah, I mean, half cab, no slide, not a heel out. Lovely. Yeah, from blunt. Nice straight flip.

Beautiful tray, nice. SSBS, DS mate. Yeah, can I argue with that? I knew that would get your like seal of approval.

But that's such a texturate, that's really showing people what you can do. Oh, and it goes for the truth that I know. Yeah. Yeah, what these lads overcomplicating it?

Yeah. You just got to land it, just land the trick. Do the kick flip no slide or the, does anything? Yeah.

But I suppose it's also like, but imagine if he won that, if he got that straight flip no slide. Oh, yeah. The score that you'd have would be insane. Great style, they mate.

Really good style. Yeah, again, never heard of the old boy, but. Yeah, oh, Mattias, Dall, Ollion. So, yeah, and then, here he is.

Here he is. You told. How did you pronounce it? 89.90.

Starting in switch already. Switch front lips over the little. Switch lip. Bump.

Trade over the, the A frame sort of deal. It's coming in hot here. Not only 270 lip. Brum blunt, lovely.

Smith. Smith, uh. Just taking that tail. There's, I mean, you can see like the difference in skating between this guy, between him and the others.

The trick, he's got a trick on every obstacle where some just kind of went over the ramp. This uto's doing a Smith, like, or a tail. It might be a basic. Oh.

I think it's like there's something in front of you. I think you should hit it. You should just carve around and go somewhere else. You should, even if it isn't the best flow, well, I think it would be better flow if, if you just, if there's something in front of you, don't swing around it.

You're going to have to hit it. If you pick the obstacle in front of it and that drives you into, say, like a bump to bar, you're going to have to change your, your run to have to, you know, to stick the bump to bar in it. Even if it doesn't have to be a super technical trick, just get kicked over it or something. The, the practice must be weird for this sort of thing.

Like, because you have 45 seconds, like learning how much you can do in those 45 seconds. Oh, yeah. So, uh, cheery? Yeah, great style.

What aggressive skater me? Hmm. But he has that sort of kind of like Japanese skating style. It's that kind of like energetic springs and a tennis skater though.

Oh, yeah. He, he looks like he needs to kind of, you know, use his, make blind side back when 80 50. And then what's he lining up for a, oh, ah, does that switch to something? Yeah.

Yeah. That was. It's too bright for him. He needs it to be like midnight.

Spotlights on a marble bench. That's what he wants. It needs to be Tokyo down, you know, he's, he needs to look like Tokyo or New York or something and he would shred it. That back body 50.

So impressive. It did look pretty hot out there. Obviously it's been pretty hot over here. It must have been boiling over there when they're doing that.

30 plus degrees, I think. Is that why it is? Which is, I can't imagine. No, you're done.

You're done mate. You just forget. We get to forget. Yeah, forget all the, yeah, exactly.

Just kick, you know, just a few kick turns. Did you see Tom Penny? The Olympics. Yes.

Did you see Cliff over the bank? Yep. And Tony Hawk apparently, I don't know if you saw Tony Hawk got like asked to leave the course. He was filming on the course.

I was in there and they kind of said, you know, I don't want to do this. It's Tony Hawk. You can't really love the broadcast from the skate park. That's what they kind of classify us.

So he's asked to areas. Yeah, it's not a drive. Love his traffic app mate with the American flag on it. What you got to do.

He's psyched to be there. Look at him. And then his power in through is in switch. Switch himself up.

Beautiful switch. Right in side, but it may. Well, he knows Ryan back to back to goof. A big kick flip front board kind of gaps out to the rail on the back to bank.

Beautiful. That's a great mate. And it's annoying that the commentators aren't cornered on trade flips because it's literally in France. Like come on.

Yeah, yeah, exactly mate. Look at him. He's loving that. It's a good run mate.

Really good run. And you can tell that he's used to like your street leagues or X games or this. He knows how to operate in a situation. Yeah.

But it probably is quite nice that he's got you two there. Obviously not on the same team, but they must skate together. Sure. Shane O'Neill.

You know, they must have. You know, you know, you two must have been down on just park a few times. So at least you've got your mate there. Just kind of keeping the nerves away from you.

Yeah. The coaches are loving it. I like the coach like polo that they've got. Yeah, you might pick them up mate, would you?

Not you free got the Snookhold approval. Yeah. He put it down. He put it down.

There's a proper run. Aal Jaggerie. And it's such an American name as well. Is such an American.

You know, he looks like the typical Vast Eliad, who's got all the money in the world. Yeah. Yeah. He's a rich kid.

Sort of thing. Yeah, definitely mate. Look at that, Andy Wipes. You, Farsieble.

Lovely people. Sweet people. And now he's in Witch. Shrimp smack lip.

Right perfect, absolutely perfect switch back lip. Nice little kick grip. Back side, nice grind. Oh yeah, nice grind.

And then, oh switch 180 nose grind. Yeah switch 180 nose grind is a real trick. On a round rail. And that big stair section looks huge as well.

Yeah mate, we would be looking at that and going not to chance. I was thinking this, looking at the park, I was like what would I actually, obviously I'm not on an Olympic level, I'm just capable. Normally in a park, he's like okay that's the section I'd say on. I don't think there's anything.

Gary Hill, head judge mate. That's what we're going to do. That's what we're going to do. It's cold getting kicked off the other side or not.

Not yet, anything to prove and get with you right? No, he's fine. He's fine. Not in 1.92, just agreeing.

Maybe to get into some cold talk afterwards first. Oh yeah, we got Nigerian first with a 93.3. 7. Solid.

I mean you would be loving life going into the best trick section. Because I think it's an interesting setup. Having your run section and best trick. Because they kind of feel like two separate.

I think it needed it. I think it needed because it wasn't like this. No, no, and like all these other sports that have been in Olympics for a long time, they're always trying to figure out the best way of really kind of like nail on how to create someone. I don't know if you saw the BMX inmate.

There was a great British woman who was killing it all the way through the heat. So like the BMX race, it was like a track. Oh yeah. She's fucking hammering, battering everyone all through the rounds.

Then she came last in the final one. Oh. Because obviously you've got other people kind of like getting in your way. Are you talking in position?

Yeah. If they're at a time then, are I going to shoot at one? Sure. So I kind of think could it have been a time trial as a sport, you know, no one interfering in it?

She would have won. But when you're racing against other people then there's, I still think they need to kind of iron that shit out. Mm. Yeah.

Imagine like dead lifting when everyone's doing it right next to each other. And it's also the first to do it. Yeah. Not only is it heaviest, but it's the first.

I kind of like that though. All right. So we've got the first best trick. Yeah.

Yeah. Richard Dury with the Varyhill back five. Oh down the hub. Nicely done, man.

It's great trick. Okay. He's chilling. Man, he's on target thinking, man, I could have hit it.

I could have been there. With the Varyhill's. Yeah. Literally that I couldn't hit that trick any better.

No. How would you score that? So you've got to give it a score out of 100. Well, not.

Yeah. Yeah. Nine point nine make or whatever it is. Yeah.

Surely you can't give a. Surely you can't give a hundred. I mean, maybe the options there. But they give themselves room.

Don't that's the problem. Yeah. They give themselves room. I want to go.

If you saw that, you'd be giving that a 94 or something. For like, I don't know if you didn't switch, but no one's doing that. In switch. So you kind of have to, you can't leave room for the switch Varyhill back five though.

Because no one's hitting it. Or maybe you do. And that's that's where the level is. It's hard to kind of say.

Yeah. I would be too ruthless. I think with this. I mean, you got a 92.9.

Yeah. Which I think I think is fair. For how technical that is. But if you were to put that on the rail, is that nine, nine point nine then?

If you've done that on the rail, surely. But maybe it's another one like who's who is doing that on the rail. Is Russell. Was that fakey heel?

Or fakey heel like lip? I think. Yeah. Because I suppose your backdrops going over.

Yeah. So it would be. Yeah. We're kind of scooted out.

He's big. Yeah. He's a big, big lad. I haven't heard of this guy.

Yeah. Fakey. Look at that. The kick out.

I think he did have a part out with Thrasher not too long ago. Okay. But I'm sure we did put something out recently. Oh, Kevin.

I like Kevin's. Wait. Is he got a? Sir.

I thought he wrote about karauma. Is he? So he's got an ad yes top. So obviously Brazil is one's word.

Yes. Yeah. But he's on a karauma. Right.

Yeah. Who's blunt was that? Yeah. No.

No. He's blunt. Yeah. Yeah.

Look at that. You hear the content. They say he came up to touch early. Watch where he comes off mate.

At the end of the rail. Yeah. So. Clunk.

Perfect. Yeah. Kevin Foli, mate. Anything worse?

Come on Foli. It would have been hard to trick anyway. Yeah. Because there's a fear drop.

Yeah. Yeah. You'd be well happy with that. Yeah.

That is a ridiculous trick. I wouldn't give that. I wouldn't give that higher than the barrier hill. Just with the flip side of things.

No. It's a good. But then the like accuracy that you need. A blunt.

Yeah. A blunt. Yeah. So blunt's better than the 5.0.

Yeah. In 90.14. So I do think that's. I think they're like me.

Maybe they overscored the barrier hill maybe. Yeah. Maybe. So we've got D'Alio coming up now.

What's he got here? He's ready for a trade or a son description mate. Oh. Bigger flip.

Oh my god. It doesn't hold on to it. What would you give that if he landed it? I don't know.

I'm not a big fan of it. Of the trick itself. Or. Bigger flip.

Board. Like. Over. Judge against the the barrier hill.

Because that's obviously the. The barrier hill I would give higher than that. Because he had to be more precise. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. I suppose you do. Yeah.

Yeah. Where is. You can swing. Yeah.

We're talking like we can do it. But you can swing a big blip to front board. Easy. Can't you down up?

Yeah. You've got this much space to land on. Where's a 5.0? You've got a few inches.

Well, he didn't get a mark because he didn't land it. You two currently in sixth position. Rolling in. In.

Nolly. Nolly. Nolly 180. 5.0.

Nice trick mate. Real nice trick. Lovely trick. You're going in in blind.

And then you're placing your weight down. On the wrong foot really. The trust you have to put your weight on that part. You know, we all know that that kind of weight can go wrong.

Oh yeah. We're just talking on a flat ledge or whatever. We're not talking about jumping down a hub of line side. It's that harder than the the barrier hill they make.

Yes. I think it probably is just by bit. Because I know you're not flipping the board. But you.

There's still that level of like trust in the trick that's going to work. Nine more. It's a 9.6. Yeah.

Yeah. It's not it's not as well. So I would give. Yeah.

Anything on your switch for me, you've got to add it up a little bit. Shriers. Line up now. I like the Japanese kit as well.

That's nice. I love those sweat sanders. Scappies. He's worn that all practice.

Well see. What's he got lined up for me? What's he going for me? Is that fakey or gnolly?

Fakey. Oh fuck it. Now. So full cow tail big finish.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Carry it on.

Yeah. Big spin out. Nicely done. I'd just be saying.

So that's I would give that like a 96 or something. But I'll make that. Yeah. I don't know.

It's more moving parts. Trick trick out. I think it's got to be near the 94s. Yeah.

Maybe a 93.5. I mean spinning. Oh look. Not 3.8.

There you go. It's kind of fair I suppose. You know, this is the problem. This is the problem with skateboarding the Olympics though.

You know how how do you grade tricks? You always want to see all the tricks. And then. You have to do a trick mate.

You've got to do it. Everyone's got to do the same trick. Yeah. Like kick with those grindness.

Because I don't think everyone would be able to do that. No, I just switch here. Front tail. Beautiful.

So clean as well. See for me that should be higher. So what are you giving that a 94? I mean it's switched.

What did you do get? 94.7. Yeah, I would go touch higher. Just because it switched and.

Like a nice fight. Maybe that would be worth 95. Yeah, because he's flipping the board mate as well. And the body's rotating.

Yeah. And it's clean. 92.7.9. I think that's a joke.

Wait, did he get less than the last Japanese lad? Yeah. Ridiculous. Come on.

That trick is a C-string. 100%. What's Jagger got for us? Jagger, he's just getting his shoes lined up.

Twitching. What board company is it? I think he's the heart supply. You know, like.

Oh. Switch back to those ones. Yeah. One of the hardest tricks mate.

One of the hardest tricks though. But yeah, a little school with. But that's probably one of the hardest tricks. If I could, you know what I mean?

If you would do that. You and get anywhere near it mate. You're going down. Yeah.

How would it? Really jumped out on that leg, didn't he? It's impressive. I mean, what did you give that?

93.5. 92.8 mate mate. Yeah. But I'd say that's harder than.

Sir, eyes trick. Switch back to those one. Yeah. On that, on that specific cover as well.

So standings at moment nine, Joe's in first position. Over over 106.16 points. Jagger in uto. Sir, I, the rest of the boys down below.

And got Richard. Richard Terry again. Doesn't seem like a sloback in name, does it? No.

They could be English. Yeah. He's got another heel. Whoa.

He'll flip nose one. Do you think he, no, we did see him do a kick. Yeah. But his go to is clearly the heel flip.

He's like, I got his go to. I like it. So what did I do wrong? All right.

Cordano. What you got this time? So far he's on zero, right? Or like a 20.

Oh. Oh, oh, oh. Oh, go flip. And then I can never like 180 out.

Front side mate. It's not like a, it was like a cabbal area, wouldn't you know, the, it's, yeah, like a blind side. Yeah. Front side.

I like that little camera angle. So they can see any toe drag, anything. You need a wack and ball. Yeah.

It's in the bottom there. Great trick. Great trick. That's got to be up there.

Like 2.8. Yeah, they put themselves in position here. Yeah. Because what, what have you got like a non-heal nose like?

I know it's like it's fairly standard trick mate, but quite a, quite technical trick now. What do they give that? Well, they just give that 90 or something. Yeah, I don't, well, non-heal clip crock or something.

It's, I mean, you open it up with a very real 5.0. Well, what's he got? Cool, yeah. Nothing mate.

Nothing. Shoots out. Nothing. But yeah, very real 5.0.

That is a very good trick. Super technical. We don't see a lot of it either. No, but if that's your first one, if any, if anything, you low-ball it, right?

Yeah, you can't give an 86 for it, can you? Yeah. I think a clean 90. It's always happens.

It's on to low, low everyone else around that same sort of spectrum, and then wait for the switch tray nose blend to give a 9.94. But I mean, the caliber of tricks is crazy. Like to have a, to be able to do like a non-heal 5.0 down this ledge, just like that. Yeah.

It's, it's really impressive. And I saw like a, like a TikTok or something of this woman, like saying, she doesn't know the table, but she was watching it because it's in the Olympics. And how, she finds it weird that they're not landing tricks. But it's, it's different.

Or you, with the nolly 270 blunt. Yeah. The obviously better, it's, it's, no, it should be 90% of skateboarding is not landing tricks. Exactly.

That's what it is. But it's weird. Imagine the gymnastics, not landing all their stuff. No.

But they're trying like stuff that's never been done before. They're pushing the boundary as they're competing. Yeah. Not before.

I think this is a bit freer. The, the, the gymnastics, you normally hit a certain amount of things. You do the, you do the sequence. You've already given them to the judges what you're going to do.
