#194: Jeremiah 27-31 | God kills Hananiah

from The Bible in Fewer Words · host Carole and Steve Wells

God told Jeremiah to put a yoke on his neck and go talk to the kings that were visiting king Zedekiah. He told them that God had given everything on earth to Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who would put a yoke on their necks and force them to serve him. God would slaughter any nation who refused. But a prophet named Hananiah had a different prophecy. He said that God had broken Nebuchadnezzar's yoke and that the people would soon be free from him. To make his point, Hananiah broke Jeremiah's yoke. Then God, who doesn't like good news prophets, killed Hananiah, along with two other prophets (Ahab and Zedekiah) who also tried to spread the good news.
