195) Harrison Ward - Outdoors Saved Me From Alcoholism & Suicide

from CamBro Conversations · host Colin Campbell

Today’s conversation is with Harrison Ward, better known as the Fell Foodie. Harrison is an outdoor chef, public speaker, sobriety and mental health advocate.  You can expect to learn how a lack of alignment and masking of your internal challenges can lead to a world of addiction. Harrison speaks forthrightly about his alcoholism and challenges throughout his teens and early 20s, where his drinking was used to medicate himself from his own mind. I appreciate Harrison’s honesty and openness to describe this period of his life, the emotional toll on himself and those around him as he considered whether he wanted to continue living. Importantly, Harrison made huge changes and you will get to hear about the steps he took to live the aligned, fulfilling and purposeful life we see online today.  The ripple effect of Harrison’s own personal changes have also supported others through his content, public speaking, and encouragement for us all to get outdoors and embrace nature. A recent theme in my conversations has been the importance of embracing the positive elements of our ancestry, the elements of life that were simpler in previous generations, and not let the negative, more toxic elements of modern life corrupt us. I certainly think there’s lots to learn and strip things back to basics more often. Today’s podcast is supported and sponsored by Clean Foods Meal Prep. The removal of over 90 minutes of cooking and meal prep each week has been a big win for me, while the meals are tastier and more varied ingredients than I would manage cooking them myself. And the meals are cooked fresh each Saturday and midweek in Glasgow before being delivered across the UK.
