ב-19 באוגוסט 2020, פורסם חשד לאונס קבוצתי בו כ-30 גברים אנסו נערה בת 16 מחקירת המשטרה עלה כי הנערה נסעהלאילת עם חברתה, שם פגשו מכרים, בילו במלון הים האדום ושתו אלכוהול. .כאשר בשלב מסוים עלתה הנערה לשירותים באחד החדרים והחברה יצאה לקנות לה אוכל, כשחזרה ראתה התגודדות של לא מעט גברים מחוץ לחדר , וכאשר סוף סוף נפתחה דלת החדר על ידי גבר ערום, הנערה היתה שרויה עירומה על המיטה בחדר, לא לחלוטין בהכרה.
