and Lotus Eletra. Lotus Eletra. Lotus is first fleeing in an SUV or electric, but mate what a beautiful car. So at the moment we're in set-eyes and closed the circus of the road is literally all ours and I have to lie back down in Mexico.
If you've ever listened to us know what I mean but here we can do whatever we want and make what a beautiful car. Yeah it's not too bad. I have the opportunity to spend a bit of time on a place in Melbourne, time down at a couple of years down on the streets. It's all electric.
It's quick. We're taking reporters and I'm reaching 130 almost without really trying. It's sort of hamming, you're pointing and steering like a low straight. There's no doubt about it.
Loaders have gone. All our get their DNA in this car. It's a big car. Bigger than a KN.
I don't stop my bike as long so that's a right-to-road length of it. Yeah it's a full-size, plenty of room in the rear. You get the option of a 2C or 3C. The interior is spectacular.
It's not overkill with screens yet. The screen's on either side. The screen controls pretty much everything so we've now fitted to sport. What were we in before?
I said now we're getting serious. He's got a central screen. The interior has nothing like, if you're familiar with loaders, it's just a completely new design language. You've got a small, sort of wide LED type screen in front of the driver.
Now we're dancing. And you've got your central type screen and then even the car, passenger on the left's got a little screen as well. There are some functions where you can do stuff that the driver can't do. Daddy, it's stable.
You're not leaning. You're not getting that sick and atomic feeling. You know, with a common trade with electric cars, everyone complains that, oh, you've got that nauseous feeling where this thing just gets up and goes progressively. It's not just instant power.
It's a controlled and measured. Yeah, the S-O mentions like we as well. So it's a balance of comfort and performance when you go to a tattoo. So we've done a nice job with a very little body roll.
No. And we've got a bit of a hump here. We've got some almost 180 degree bands sitting on the road. We're using one of it now, but it's not sliding out in any real way.
It's just gripping. And these are the small, wide-inch wheels that are on their turn. This is on the 22-inch wheels. There's another electronic door which is 23-inch wheels which would be more fun.
Action rear tyres. There's a lot of rubber. The biggest load of tyre. Lotus is ever put on a vehicle, I think.
So it's a new direction for Lotus. I think Porsche sort of set the standard 20-odd years ago where if you want your sports cars to be further developed and sell, you need to sort of get into the volume market. But it's not a rebadged SUV from another car maker. This is Lotus from Ground Up.
It's got its own unique design. It's got aerodynamic flares and buttresses and air intakes. It's just the way it's been designed. There's neither car that looks like it.
It hasn't copied anyone else. It's just an amazing interior. Everything's got a purpose. Yeah, so the I-O-Cals, the design master, really set.
It's subject obviously to import. But then there's a mid-size SUV and electric sports cars as well. So it's pretty exciting to the brand. Yeah, it's just a start.
So this is like the first off many in that lifestyle market like you described it. We bring the kids along as well and really cater for the rest of the family. Yeah, absolutely. It's a completely new market for us.
We already saw it with a mirror. 90% of our mirror customers were new to the brand. It was never considered the brand. You might not have to fit me up.
That's the kind of idea I'll get you back out. Which means I have to start a chick. And you're happy with that as well. Absolutely.
No, I've always had a little soft spot for Lotus. Even from back, my brother's mechanic years ago. And I know it's not one of the best lotuses of the land that was in there. The square ones from the back of the GM partnership days were a lot of the switch gear were sort of the VN Commodore switch gear.
But even that still looked unique and different on the road. But Lotus is sort of with the elisors to stick, grow bigger and better. And now they've got the backing to really put some money into bigger and better models. It's a lot easier to come to you to finish their cars off.
But back in W. England, Lotus was famous for you'd have certain vehicles with early buy Lotus badges on there. So that would go to people to fix any handling or suspension. So why not with your own money, new investment money, build your own bigger and better.
So I'm going to have a drive. Thank you for talking to us because I don't think I'll be able to hold this in the same time. We'll, we'll, um. You did get a little bit quiet there.
Oh yeah. I'm going to jump in the driver's seat. But thank you for the opportunity to have a chat. And for the drive and we'll talk about it next episode.
Thank you for listening.
