1982 - Gandhi

from Movie of the Year

Movie of the Year: 1982GandhiWas Gandhi somehow too successful to make it into the bracket for 1982's Movie of the Year?Gandhi was a great man, but we weren't really interested in this movie because it won so many Oscars. That makes sense, I promise. We almost got to the end of the year before we even considered the movie because we feared it would fall into the category of Green Books and Crashes, which are cynical grabs for award wins, while being essentially inoffensive nothings. Small little nods of movies. "Oh, I get it being bad is bad." But is that doing this movie a disservice? Gandhi's one of the biggest movies of all time, and Ben Kingsley performance is rightly considered among the best in the history of Cinema. The good news is there are a lot of ways to feel about this movie and each of our panelists feels a slightly different way. The bad news is the 1982 season is almost over.Make sure to also:Check out the 1982 bracketVisit our websiteUse our Amazon page!Join our Patreon team! Everyone should have the freedom to decide what’s best for themselves and their families, including when it comes to ending a pregnancy. This decision has dire consequences for individual health and safety, and could have harsh repercussions for other landmark decisions.Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health and independence of all Americans. Even if you live in a state where abortion rights are upheld, access to safe medical procedures shouldn’t be determined by location, and it shouldn’t be the privilege of a small few.You can help by donating to local abortion funds.
