199 - The Dangerous Love

Overview – The Dangerous Love. 1 John 2:15-17. John starts off this small section in the midst of this chapter with some very direct, firm and harsh words to Christians about the love of the world. He opens up with the command to all Christians, “Do Not love the world or the things of the world.” I named this sermon “The Dangerous love”, because John says that if a Christian loves the world or the things of the world, the love of Father God is not in them. Is John saying that Christians can’t love the world in any way? Is John really saying that if a Christian loves anything in the world, then the love of God is not within them? Does this command to not love the world, or the things in the world include not loving their spouse, child, mom, dad, or brother, sister? This sermon covers all of these questions, and more.
