Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, high pressure is firmly in control today. That means plenty of sunshine and quiet conditions across the state. but don't get too comfortable. A big warm-up is charging in for Saturday. In the next 24 hours. Step outside this afternoon and you'll feel a chill in the air. Temperatures are holding in the 20s and low 30s. Down in Portland, you're heading toward 36 degrees. That's about 4 degrees above normal for late February — feels like a nice break. Up in Bangor, expect a high near 32. The Western Mountains are cooler, topping out near 29 degrees. and up in The County? You're the cold spot today, sitting at 26 degrees. Tonight stays mostly clear. You'll want to keep the heavy jacket handy if you're heading out. Lows drop into the teens for most areas. Portland bottoms out at 22 degrees. The County falls to 12 degrees. Saturday brings a real surge of warm air. Highs reach the low 40s across the south. Portland hits 43 degrees. Bangor also warms to 43. It'll feel like spring is knocking on the door. but here's the thing. An Arctic front crashes the party late Saturday afternoon. That brings a chance for rain or snow showers. Isolated snow squalls are possible in the mountains. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. That Arctic front plunges temperatures south for Sunday. Highs crash into the 20s and teens. Sunday night turns dangerously cold. The County drops to minus 8 degrees. Bangor falls to zero. Portland reaches 7 degrees. Monday stays frigid with highs only in the teens to low 20s. Temperatures recover slightly by Tuesday. A fast-moving system brings a chance of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Several inches of accumulation are possible across central and Downeast areas.
