But this quiet evening is setting the stage for a wild weekend. A warm surge is pushing north ahead of a cold front. Saturday is the payoff. New York City touches 46 degrees. Albany hits 47. Syracuse reaches 45. That's the mildest air many of us have felt since mid January. The kind of afternoon where you leave your heavy coat in the car and don't regret it. Now. Western New York, your night is a little different. That cold front arrives with rain between 2 and 5 A.M. Buffalo and Rochester, you'll hear it tapping the windows while you sleep. The rest of the state stays dry through Saturday afternoon. Then the plot twist. Saturday night, a second and much stronger cold front barrels through. Snow showers statewide.
