2/27 North Carolina Weather 6 AM: 34° Above Normal
from The North Carolina Weather Podcast
Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Step outside and you might feel like you're walking on a cloud. Thick, soupy fog blanketed the state overnight after that rain. Visibility is down to a quarter mile in spots. Take it slow on the roads this morning. That fog should lift by 9 A.M. In the next 24 hours. Here's what you can expect across the state today. The Piedmont deals with on-and-off showers through noon. You'll hit 56 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Watch out tonight—fog could roll back in with a low of 45. Over in the Triangle, you've got a chance of rain before 2 P.M. Highs top out at 53 degrees there. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with a low dipping to 43. Western North Carolina starts socked in with fog through the morning. A brief shower is possible around 10 A.M., but then the sun breaks through. You're looking at a high of 59 degrees and a crisp low of 42 tonight. Now for the weekend turnaround. Saturday brings partly sunny skies and highs near 65 degrees. Sunday is the real winner. We're talking sunny and 72 to 74 degrees. That's about 34 degrees above normal for late February. But Monday brings a reality check. A cold front slides through and temperatures crash 34 degrees to 34 degrees. Highs only reach the upper 40s. There's even a low chance of a wintry mix in the mountains early Tuesday. Spring warmth rushes back in by Wednesday with highs in the upper 60s. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight every single day now. The spring equinox is just three weeks away. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
