2/28/24 - Fr. Elias Mills, F.I.

from Ask A Priest Live · host The Station of the Cross

Fr. Elias Mary Mills, F.I. served as Rector of the Shrine Church at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lacrosse, Wisconsin from 2016 to 2021. He was ordained in May of 2000.     In Today's Show  I work as a nurse for a Catholic nursing facility. One of my patients is a Catholic who receives daily Communion. In her room, however, there is a picture of one of her daughters, and this particular photo shows the daughter walking and holding hands with another lady on a beach. Do I have an obligation to report this photo to my superiors at the Catholic nursing facility? Why do we not have saint days for people from the Old Testament? Should Bishops ban politicians who, for instance, push radical abortion policies, from receiving Communion? I have a friend who says he is bi-sexual. I've tried to convince him otherwise but am having trouble. He also thinks Sodom and Gomorrah shouldn't have been destroyed. What can I do to convince him? I have Parkinson's disease and I wanted to know if it is proper to have my Protestant friends pray and lay hands over me? My priest gave me my penance while I was saying my act of contrition and I didn't quite hear him. I'm going to Confession again, but can I receive Communion in the meantime? What books did the Protestants take out of the Bible? I'm considering a vocation to the priesthood! I'm Franciscan in spirit. Could I say the Novus Ordo (ad-orientem) and TLM in a parish setting? What challenges are there to doing this? What books would Father recommend for lukewarm Catholics? What is the state of a Mass when the Agnus Dei is not said/prayed? Why is it that when I hear some people pray the Rosary, right before the first mystery, they omit the Fatima prayer? Is there a reason one way or the other? Should I be afraid of generational curses? Is there a rule of standing for all readings and the Gospel? As a relatively new Catholic (ex-Protestant), can you recommend books of the teachings and traditions of church fathers?   Visit the show page at thestationofthecross.com/askapriest to listen live, check out the weekly lineup, listen to podcasts of past episodes, watch live video, find show resources, sign up for our mailing list of upcoming shows, and submit your question for Father!
