#2 Back On Track: Jessica Learmonth

from Anything but Footy · host Anything but Footy

In this podcast series, from Anything but Footy, we speak to Team GB and Para GB athletes preparing for Tokyo 2020 in 2021, following the historic delay to the Games because of the coronavirus pandemic. Jessica Learmonth is set to make her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021 after being officially named by Team GB in November 2020 as part of the triathlon team. She will travel to Japan alongside Jonathan Brownlee, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Vicky Holland. Further triathletes, including two time Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee, could still be selected. She describes how strange is was to be officially named for her first Olympic Games whilst sat in her dining room on a zoom call and how she became emotional when she heard the news formally for the first time. She also reveals that her partner John has been helping her prepare in lockdown by constructing a home gym and kayaking alongside her when open water swimming.
