2: Black Lives Matter & Britain's Imperial Past

from High Expectasians · host Asians in Britain

For episode 2 of High Expectasians, we are very honoured to have my good friend Robert Smith whom I met in University to join us in discussing something that has been all over the news and social media: the Black Lives Matter movement and the underlying problems it has highlighted as a result. A lot of people have already talked about police brutality and the injustice that has been happening so we decided to put our focus on the issues surrounding systemic racism and Britain's imperial past that has arguably led to the events that have been happening in America and all over the world. This is definitely a heavy topic but something that we all have to face and be open and honest about. *Please note that the following episode contains language which some listeners may find distressing. Trigger warning: death, racism, sexual assault.* p.s. due to COVID-19, we had to record at our respective homes so the audio quality of each person is not the same. Also, at some point, some birds decided to chime in and join our discussion as well... it was hard to cut them out. Thank you for your patience! Thank you for taking the time out to listen to this episode. Don't forget to leave us a review or comment!
