2 Chronicles 25 – Half-Hearted Obedience and the Cost of Pride

In 2 Chronicles Chapter 25, we meet King Amaziah, a ruler who “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly” (v. 2). His reign is a powerful lesson in the dangers of partial obedience, misplaced trust, and pride after victory. Though he begins with faith and obedience, Amaziah allows pride to creep in—and it ultimately leads to his downfall.In this episode, we’ll explore:✅ The Warning of Partial Obedience:Amaziah initially follows God’s guidance by trusting Him over military alliances (vv. 5–10). However, Scripture clearly points out that his heart wasn’t fully surrendered. Obedience without full devotion can still lead us astray.✅ Victory Followed by Vanity:After defeating the Edomites, Amaziah brings back their idols and begins to worship them (vv. 11–15). Success can sometimes expose the heart more than failure—and pride often leads to compromise.✅ Ignoring Correction and Choosing Defeat:God sends a prophet to correct Amaziah, but the king rejects it. His refusal to listen results in a disastrous war with Israel and his eventual assassination (vv. 16–27).
