#2 - Dr. Andy Roark

Welcome back to the VBMA podcast. In this episode I had the opportunity to chat with an international speaker, author, and media personality. The one and only, Dr. Andy Roark. He is the founder of the uncharted veterinary conference and podcast as well as the cone of shame podcast. Today you’ll learn about who he is as an individual and how he got introduced to the VBMA. He talked about his role in acquiring sponsors for the VBMA and how that changed what we were able to do moving forward. Diving a little deeper we got to chatting about why it is so important to figure out what you are good at and enjoy, and to do this over and over again. This conversation led us to discussing that we as soon to be veterinarians or already veterinarians have the ability to do what we want in our job and scraping all of the tasks we don’t enjoy. He mentioned that we should define happiness in our expectations while knowing that in this field there is pain baked into all of it. There is, as he said, joy through the struggle.
