In this episode, I speak with Dr. Andrea Hejtmanek. We talk about the power of grace as a practitioner, how to stay grounded as a practitioner, and learn about how Dr. Andrea approaches her treatments. Andrea Hejtmanek graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies in 2005. Soon after, she enrolled at the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CCTCMA), where she received the Doctor of TCM degree in 2010. After graduating, she was invited to teach at CCTCMA and she continues there today. Andrea typically teaches the following courses: The Foundations of Chinese Medicine, Herbology, Dietary Therapy, Facial Rejuvenation, Gynecology, Extraordinary Meridians, and The Classics of Chinese Medicine, in addition to being a supervisor at the College’s teaching clinic. Also, she has been invited to give two lectures in China at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (Beijing), most recently giving a presentation on emerging infectious diseases. Andrea was involved with TCM and Acupuncture regulation in Alberta, serving as Vice President of the Alberta Association of Traditional Chinese Medical Doctors and as Co-Chair of Membership Services for the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta for six years. In 2013, during the Calgary flooding, she also co-created YARP (the YYC Acupuncture Relief Project) opening make-shift clinics offering free acupuncture to those in need. She is also the sole proprietor of Nourishing Life Health Care, a health care practice where she specializes in anti-aging/longevity medicine, facial rejuvenation, digestive disorders, reproductive health, and stress relief. Her practice emphasizes balancing the physical and psychological aspects of client’s health, integrating acupuncture, hot stone massage, myofascial cupping, herbology, tuning forks, essential oils, dietary therapy, and reiki.
