Josiah also restores the Passover, celebrating it in obedience to God’s commands as had not been done for generations. Yet the chapter ends with a sobering truth: national judgment is only delayed, not canceled, because of the accumulated sins of previous kings. Even Josiah’s unmatched faithfulness cannot fully turn away the consequences already decreed.
