In this study, titled “2 Peter 1:3-4 – Called Collect,” we use a blast from the past to illustrate a timeless spiritual truth. God has placed a call to your heart. It is a collect call, but unlike the old phone companies that charged exorbitant fees, God is the one footing the bill. When we answer, we don’t pay; we collect. We collect the spiritual resources necessary for a thriving relationship with Jesus. As we continue our verse-by-verse study through 2 Peter, we find the Apostle writing with breathless urgency. He knows his martyrdom is approaching, so he doesn’t waste time. He wants us to know that Christianity is far more than just “fire insurance” for the afterlife. It is a present-day reality powered by the Divine nature of Jesus Christ. Peter makes the bold claim that God has already given us “everything required for life and godliness.” This isn’t a promise of material wealth or perfect health, but a guarantee that every spiritual necessity—peace, joy, wisdom, and endurance—is available to us right now through the knowledge of Him. In this Bible study, we define what true godliness looks like. It isn’t just a list of rules or things to avoid. It means worshipping well and living with reverence. This distinction was crucial for the early church because false teachers were creeping in, encouraging people to live by craving rather than calling. They claimed you could follow Jesus while indulging in the corruption of the world. Peter shatters that myth. He teaches that true faith transforms us, allowing us to escape the evil desires that infect the world around us. We also explore the “great and precious promises” mentioned in verse 4. Through these promises, we are invited to share in the divine nature. This doesn’t mean we become little gods, but that we are continually conformed to the image of Christ. We discuss how we access this power through the knowledge of Him—not merely academic trivia, but a relational, deep understanding of who Jesus is. Are you screening God’s calls? He is calling you into faith and fellowship. If you are looking for solid, expository teaching from a Calvary Chapel perspective, this video is for you. We invite you to open your Bible to 2 Peter chapter 1 and discover that you have everything you need for the journey ahead. Join us as we learn how to answer the call, surrender our lives to the Savior, and collect the rich blessings God has stored up for His children.
