2 Peter 1:8-11 - Connecting People to Christ, His Church and His Call

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Sunday August 15 Connecting People to Christ, His Church and His Call 2 Peter 1:8-11 “For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Today, I will be preaching my last message as senior pastor of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church in both of our morning services. My text will be from 2 Peter 1, where the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Peter was reminding us “that God, by His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” (2 Peter 1:3) Then Peter goes on to tell us how we need to be diligent to add to our faith, virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly love! (2 Peter 1:5-7) Peter would also say that he knew his time was short and these basically are his last words. (2 Peter 1:14-15) I have a burden today, as Peter did, to share something, that we need to be reminded of every day, as we walk through this journey of life. Sunday, August 29, will be my last Sunday as pastor of this wonderful church fellowship and Edith and I will begin a new season and chapter of our lives. By God’s grace, I will continue to do what I’ve been doing for the last 50 years, but not as a senior pastor. My mission every day, has always been and will continue to be, connecting the disconnected to Jesus Christ, then connect them to His Community of believers which is His Church, and then connect them to the call of God on their lives. I believe this should be the mission and goal of every believer for the glory of God. I will continue do a daily “Pastor’s Chat” from God’s Word to accomplish this mission. You can also learn more about the various ways I will continue to minister through Pastor Mike Impact Ministries by going to our website at https://www.pmiministries.org/ I covet your continued prayers and support in the years to come as we look forward to the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! God bless!
