Peter had seen the glory of Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, heard the voice of the Father, and witnessed majesty with his own eyes—yet he still directs believers to the prophetic Word as a lamp shining in a dark place.2 Peter 1 reminds us that Scripture is not man’s opinion about God; it is the Word of God carried along by the Holy Spirit. The same voice that spoke on the mountain is the voice that speaks through the Scriptures. So today, read 2 Peter 1 and pay attention to the Word: open it, hear it, trust it, and let the voice of God shine light into every dark place.
