2 PETER-PART 2-WHAT IS PETER’S LAST GREAT WARNING TO HIS FLOCK BEFORE HE DEPARTS HIS TABERNACLE?

WE AS AMERICANS CAN LOOK BACK UPON OUR LIVES ON A SIN THAT WE REGRET HAVING COMMITTED AND NEVER WANT TO COMMIT AGAIN, FOR THE FALLOUT OF THAT SIN IS STILL PLAGUING US TO THIS PRESENT DAY. IN PETER’S 2ND EPISTLE HE GIVES HIS DEPARTING WARNING TO HIS FLOCK BEFORE HE DIES, THAT IS, AS IS WRITTEN, HE IS ABOUT TO DEPART HIS TABERNACLE. 2 Peter 1: [14] Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.AND WHAT WOULD THAT WARNING BE?2 Peter 1: [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.[9] But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.[10] Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, YE SHALL NEVER FALL. SO PETER, SAYS TO HIMSELF, WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT I COULD TELL MY FLOCK. WHAT IS THE GREATEST REGRET IN MY LIFE THAT I WISH I COULD HAVE KNOWN HOW TO AVOID?MOST ALL OF US AMERICANS KNOW OF WHAT THAT REGRET WAS, BECAUSE WE AND MUCH OF THE WORLD ARE REMINDED OF IT ONCE A YEAR ON EASTER SUNDAY. HOW MANY OF US AMERICANS WOULD WANT OUR MOST REGRETTABLE SIN TO BE REPEATED TO THE WORLD FOR OVER 2000 YEARS, AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR?Matthew 26: [73] And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.[74] Then began HE TO CURSE and to SWEAR, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.[75] And Peter REMEMBERED the WORD of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and WEPT BITTERLYWILL PETER EVER FORGET THAT MOMENT?WE AS AMERICANS CAN RELATE TO THAT, CAN WE NOT?AND HOPEFULLY WE DON’T WANT OUR CHILDREN TO FALL INTO THE SAME REGRETTABLE SIN WE DID AND THUS WE WARN THEM TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO CARELESSLY FALL INTO THAT SIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT A REPENTANT HEART, BUT A HARD HEART. AND SO WHAT DOES PETER DO BUT TO WARN HIS DISCIPLES HOW NOT TO FALL. IN THIS MESSAGE WE WILL, AMONGST MANY OTHER THINGS, LOOK INTO MOSES’ REGRETTABLE SIN, AND WHAT THE ROOT SIN, THAT WAS BEHIND HIS ACT OF SIN, WHICH WAS THE SAME ROOT SIN WHICH WAS BEHIND PETER’S ACT OF SIN.
