#2 Radiophonic Workshop

from Dies und Das · host t s

The Electrofringe and the Octapod - independent arts and media organisation Newcastle invited me to do a workshop from the 26-27 of August 2006. Together with Sumugan Sivanesan and Ben Byrne (Co-directors Eelctrofringe) we introduced participants to concepts of soundscape studies and electroacoustic music, starting with Walter Ruttmanns "weekend" from 1930 over John Cage, Hildegard Westerkanp to contemporary sound artists like the Tape Beatles, Scanner etc. On the second day we explored Newcastle acoustically by doing field recordings and producing small soundscapes using the open source audio program Audacity. Here you can listen to a radiophonic soundscape I made earlier called "rainy weekend"
