Absalom has not repented. He lives by his own moral code and wants what he wants and goes to any means to get it. Reconciliation cannot happen without repentance. When we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus, we are immediately reconciled to God. God's desire above all else is for us to be reunited and reconciled fully to Him.
