In 2 Samuel 2:12–32, the division between David and Ish-bosheth erupts into bloodshed as Israelites turn their swords against their own brothers.This passage gives us a sobering picture of the destructive effects of schism. It also raises important questions for the church today: What makes a division schismatic? How should Christians balance unity and truth? When are doctrinal differences serious enough to warrant separation?Yet the Bible does more than warn us about division.
