2 Samuel, Week 21 - Day 3: The Empty Monument of a Self-Centered Life
from Pastor Steve’s Daily Devotionals · host Village Church RVA
2 Samuel, Week 21 Day 3: The Empty Monument of a Self-Centered Life Devotional Absalom spent his life building his own name. He was charming, ambitious, driven. But everything he did was for himself. He even built a monument so people would remember him. In the end that monument was nothing more than a grave marker. The legacy he chased crumbled the moment he died. His story is a mirror. It is easy to spend your energy building something impressive that is rooted in self. Careers, reputations, even family can become monuments to your own name if you are not careful. And when you are gone, those monuments will not endure. A legacy built on faith in God is different. It outlasts you. It shapes the people around you. It points others to Christ long after you are gone. That is the kind of legacy worth building. The good news is you do not need a perfect track record to leave a faithful legacy. You just have to keep pointing people to Jesus. Start today. In your home, your workplace, your community. Build something that lasts. Bible Verse “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.” — Exodus 20:12 (ESV)
