In the late 1990s, Scott McElhaney, a recent college grad and recruiter, read Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." The book's central theme, making money work for you, resonated with Scott and one that he has carried through his Real Estate career. As young newlyweds, Scott and his wife Lisa ventured into flipping homes, starting with bathroom and kitchen remodels. A decade later, they were building luxury spec homes. As their family grew, they leaped and transitioned to buying commercial real estate properties. Out of love of food, they purchased mainly restaurants and retail asset classes, but true to their life's goal, to not trade time for money, they wanted a business that gave them the freedom to spend time with their family. Today, they have more time for their family while working on their real estate portfolio.
