2 Timothy 1-2

Paul's charge to Timothy to fan into flame his spiritual gift and not be ashamed of testimony about Christ reflects the younger man's apparent timidity while emphasizing the Spirit's power over fear. His instruction to entrust the gospel to faithful people who can teach others demonstrates the importance of theological succession and training in maintaining doctrinal integrity across generations. The metaphors of soldier, athlete, and farmer illustrate different aspects of faithful ministry—endurance through hardship, competition according to rules, and patient labor before seeing results.
