2-Unveiling Society’s Child - A Journey into Trauma-Responsive Education

from SOCIETY’S CHILD | Christian Teacher Support for Managing Disruptive Behaviors · host Trish Zenczak, Trauma-Responsive Education Specialist; Speaker, Christian Educator Coach & Author

Hey Educator Fam! I'm thrilled to kick off Society's Child podcast! 🚀 Episode 1 is a heart-to-heart about my journey—a child of God, a teacher, foster mom, and a survivor of complex trauma. My mission? Answering a divine call to use my story to help others. Having lived through abandonment, abuse, and neglect, I bring a unique perspective to trauma-informed education. My lens offers insight into the internal world of a child battling low self-esteem, feelings of being unloved, and the impact of trauma on behavior. I've walked the healing path, and my goal is to connect with educators, sharing my experiences to foster compassion and understanding. With 15 years in the classroom, I've decoded student behavior, navigating the challenges of reaching every child, especially those seemingly falling through the cracks. As a former teacher, I understand the demands—lesson plans, grading, meetings—spinning a thousand plates in the air. My hope is to make trauma-informed practices accessible, offering practical tools that fit seamlessly into your classroom, creating a responsive, empathetic learning environment. Being a foster and adoptive mom enriches my perspective. Balancing parenting children with trauma and collaborating with the education system is no easy feat. I've been in the trenches, striving to align the needs of my child with the goals of the school. I'm on a mission to simplify trauma-informed practices, provide resources, and decode the language, helping educators create a trauma-responsive campus. Ultimately, I dream of a movement—a network of trauma-responsive campuses making a profound impact on students' lives. I'm looking forward to having you join me on this transformative journey!
