Send us Fan MailIn this episode, I speak to Andrew whose been living with type 1 diabetes for 35 years. Andrew and I discuss his life with type 1 diabetes and other topics including how type 1 has impacted his work and family life, men’s mental health, diabetes technology and his life-changing moment in 2016. This moment led Andrew on a journey of researching and learning more about type 1 diabetes in particular diabetes technology and diet. Andrew self advocated in order to receive funding for an insulin pump and he moved to a Keto diet and has recently moved to a low-fat high carb diet with the help of the book Mastering Diabetes. I’m aware in the community that discussion about how someone chooses to manage their diabetes with what they eat can at times be divisive however I believe that it’s down to the individual to choose what works for them and I’m all for conversations of people sharing their own personal experiences. I don’t believe that one person should tell another person the diet they are choosing to follow is wrong because it’s an individual decision.
