20: Olympics to Injury to Olympics Again with Jess O'Connell
from Science of Sports Recovery · host Jase Kraft
Jessica O’Connell competed in the 2016 Olympic Games placing 26th in the 5k. She has had numerous World Championship appearances including a top 10 finish in the indoor 3k, an event she is currently the Canadian Record holder in. Jess doesn't just have the speed in her legs through, she has the brains to back it up. I’m sure you’ll pick that up in our interview today. She has a Master’s in Exercise Physiology and has worked as a research assistant on many kinesiology projects at the University of Calgary. On this episode, we are going to explore the differences between anaerobic and aerobic exercise and how you should recover from each, and the science behind tapering and peaking for a major event.
