My name is Chanchal Kaur and I’m honoured to represent New South Wales in Miss Grand Australia 2022.In 2021, I graduated with a bachelors or Law/Arts (majoring in politics and international relations). I’ve always been passionate about women in law. However, in recent years my attention has shifted towards legislative protections for women - given the prominence of violence against women in Australia.I noted that pageantry was a platform and decided to use it as such to encourage women to take up space within Australia; specifically the political sphere. We need women in parliament to voice the issues faced by women within the nation. This includes trans women, indigenous women and women of colour. True representation require total inclusivity, which I believe we have yet to achieve.I know that many people see pageantry as frivolous at first glance, however, it is a powerful platform and it’s positive influence is determined by the women that represent that platform.---⠀⠀Be more than just a queen.
