Las tareas cotidianas más simples se vuelven difíciles por el simple hecho de usar la mano izquierda y no la derecha. Seguro que si eres diestro nunca te has parado a pensar en lo complicado que puede resultarle a un zurdo girar la corona del reloj, o te lo colocas en la mano derecha o no podrás manejarla con facilidad. ¿Te has planteado como maneja un zurdo una cinta métrica? ¿y unas tijeras? Más difícil aún, ¿cómo manipular un abrelatas o un pelador?Escribir en sillas de pala en las que la base está a nuestra derecha supone una postura imposible si la mano que utilizas es la izquierda, lo mismo que tomar apuntes en un cuaderno de espiral.Entre el 10 y el 15% de la población es zurda, en España unos 5 millones de personas. Afortunadamente cada vez se piensa más en ellos, en ciudades grandes hay tiendas para zurdos donde podemos comprar desde unas tijeras hasta el utensilio de cocina más sofisticado.Hace años ser zurdo era tan negativo que los padres y maestros obligaban a los niños a utilizar la mano derecha principalmente en la escuela, muchas personas de mi edad escriben con la derecha y utilizan la izquierda para todo lo demás, comer, pintar, tocar un instrumento, etc. Parece que la zurdera no es tan dominable como se creía.Hoy día ser zurdo no es en absoluto negativo, es más, hay mitos de todas clases en torno a ellos, muchos positivos como que son más creativos e inteligentes, luchadores natos y más sanos, aunque también se dice que tienen mal carácter y se enfadan con facilidad.Sea cierto o no, lo importante es que la vida, desde hace unos años, resulta más fácil para los que se manejan mejor con su mano izquierda.Canción: “Duelo de Gigantes” Antonio VegaLEFT-HANDEDWithout a doubt, the world is more complicated if you are left-handed.
