At the urging of President Donald Trump, Texas Republicans are once again pushing a mid-decade redistricting process, this time to help the GOP maintain control of the U.S. House in next year’s midterm elections in order for Trump to continue implementing his agenda. Historically the party in power takes losses in midterms, so Trump is using Texas, and perhaps other red states, to hedge against losing control of the House.
