200th Episode! A Servant's Heart Revisited

I wrote and published my thirteenth blog entitled A Servant's Heart back in April of 2012. This is a memorable blog for two reasons. One: The topic spoke to the heart of how every person can experience true success in selling, business and life. Two: After twelve blogs and wondering if anyone was reading or receiving any benefit from my writing, I received an email from Suzan Hicks. She told me how much the message meant to her and she forwarded it to her entire digital rolodex of coaches and contacts. This gave me the encouragement and fuel to keep writing. Suzan, thank you! (Suzan and her husband are now serving as missionaries in Haiti.) Here is that blog just as it was published in 2012. Please tell me, what would the world be like if everyone had a servant's heart? When I hear the word "serve" the next word I think of is "humility". I make a statement when I am providing sales training, "It is not about you…it is never about you"! This can be applied to many areas of our lives and can be practiced everyday. Have you ever witnessed the surprise on someone's face when you hold the door for them in a public place? Or, have you experienced reaching that same door when a stranger slams through without giving you a second thought? A person that serves with proper motives will set aside his own needs and will focus on those of another. How does this pertain to business? One way would be to make sure you give your customer what they need based on a clear understanding of their situation.  Also, don't forget who allows you to stay in business and provide for your family. These are just a couple. The success you have in your life will be a direct correlation of how many people you serve. An attitude of serving is not something you put in your schedule to do when it is convenient. I believe it becomes a part of who you are. What is most interesting about the person who humbles himself and serves…he usually gets the blessing. Matthew 20:28: Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
