201: LANKUM IN CONVERSATION

from NO ENCORE

This week, the RTÉ Choice Music Prize will be decided, crowning the best Irish album of 2019. Dave reckons that Lankum are going to win, but for the traditional Irish/folk-punk outfit, the idea of music being pitted against itself makes little sense. That's just one of the conversational points hit on in this episode as Radie Peat and Daragh Lynch open up on the band's surge in popularity, their fantastic latest album The Livelong Day, why there's room for a clever heckle at a gig, awkward airport encounters and a recent example of how musicians have plenty to say beyond their work.
