2015 New Year - Now What with Craig Sicilia

from Craig Sicilia founder BIR · host Craig Sicilia

2015 – THE YEAR OF CHANGE AND COLABORATION Here we go, into the first Monday after the holiday, for me holidays have consumed my inner energy, this year though, Year 8 I am ready to start my life again.  It has been like my life was on hold for 8 years thank God for the others like me I have found. If not for the others, I would have gone mad, no one could understand what I was dealing with including myself.  By the time I figured out what it was, everything and everyone I loved and valued had given up and written me off.  Though I find great value in what we do, the community as a whole does not support those living with brain injuries doing for themselves, unless it meets their agenda. Screw their agenda I say, coming into 2015 I believe I have a new focus one that will be sustainable, one with new partnerships of those who will support survivors.  These organization who want to give us hand outs and their pity and false understanding of who and what we are. Instead it is time for hand ups, things that empower survivors, finding that new self, quicker and more smoothly, without losing everything we value in our hearts, which means survivors educating caregivers and family members so they can try to understand and have hope before they abandon and write us off. The time has come to unite those who want to fight for a change in the mentality of organizations providing services to us, a time to partner with those organizations who support this belief of empowerment, and being part of making it all work together. 2015 – THE YEAR OF CHANGE AND COLABORATION
