#202 - A Deep Dive Into Regenerative Medicine - Dr. John Radio

from The Coaches Corner University Podcast · host Paul Oneid

Dr. John Radio is a non-operative sports medicine and orthopedic physician with UCHealth in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he specializes in regenerative medicine and image-guided interventions.  John is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Primary Care Sports Medicine.  His practice centers on ultrasound and fluoroscopically-guided injections utilizing PRP and cellular therapies to treat the whole person instead of just an MRI report.  He treats the entire functional unit of the body region, not just a single structure. His medical practice is built on having skin in the game. A lifelong athlete, John wrestled, played football and basketball, and has trained and competed in brazilian jiu-jitsu and lifted seriously for years. He also recently completed an ultra-marathon. Through his athletic and competitive pursuits, he used his own injuries, treatments and recovery to develop empathy and understanding of the biopsychosocial implications for individuals in pain. That firsthand experience shapes how he connects with patients facing the same setbacks. Off the clock, he lives the active Colorado life he prescribes: lifting, training, and time in the mountains. As a devoted husband and father, family is the anchor behind his work.We discussed00:00:53 — Background and Origin Story00:04:21 — Personal Injury as a Clinical Catalyst00:09:47 — History of Injection Therapies00:17:08 — Rethinking Inflammation00:20:49 — The 40-Minute Consult00:23:19 — Imaging Is Not a Diagnosis00:31:22 — Lab Screening and Metabolic Readiness00:37:34 — Dose, Precision, and Image Guidance00:54:17 — Stem Cells and Cellular Therapy01:05:22 — The Achilles Case StudyFind JohnLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-radio-md-39813a167/UChealth - https://www.uchealth.org/provider/john-radio-md/__________Paul's singular goal is to raise the bar for coaching.
