The scripture text for this sermon is Luke 11:1-4 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) The Lord’s Prayer 11 He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father,[a] hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.[b] 3 Give us each day our daily bread.[c] 4 And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial.”[d] Footnotes: [a] Luke 11:2 Other ancient authorities read Our Father in heaven [b] Luke 11:2 A few ancient authorities read Your Holy Spirit come upon us and cleanse us.
