2020 Phillies Season Preview (PST Show #372)

from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table

We're back talking Philly sports, and this week we presented our 2020 Phillies Season Preview! It's hard to believe there's going to be a baseball season as we eagerly anticipate what this Phillies team will do. This week, Justin Klugh from Baseball Prospectus and The Dirty Inning podcast joined us for a great discussion about what we might expect from this upcoming, and bizarre Phillies and MLB season. But first, we talked about a poll we put up on Twitter this past week where we asked our followers what Philly sports team may surprise us most for the remainder of the year. (approx. 4:15)Then we dove into some Eagles talk: the effects of Jason Peters playing right guard, and how bad the Birds' linebacker corps really is. (approx. 9:00)We then got into some Sixers talk as Shake Milton and Ben Simmons are apparently working well together in Orlando. What could this mean for the Sixers in the playoffs? (approx. 20:15)On the Highbrow Segment this week, Dan Snyder and the Washington Football Team are not only in the process of changing their team name, but the organization is in a world of hurt after an article was recently published in The Washington Post about the team’s culture of sexual harassment against its female employees and what an awful organization they are in general. Can the NFL’s Washington team truly turn a corner like other pro teams have done? (approx. 27:20)This on the Lowbrow Segment, we got into a discussion about what movies they may want to review next on the show. (approx. 37:35)What we're throwing down on the Table this week is our 2020 Phillies Season Preview with Justin Klugh. First, we talked about what the future holds for the 3rd base position now that Jean Segura will be stepping into that role. From there, we discussed how influential Bryce Harper is within this Phillies organization on and off the field. Has Vince Velasquez actually "figured it out?" And what should our level of concern for Rhys Hoskins be this coming season? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 47:20)Email us at [email protected] to let us know your thoughts about anything and everything Philly sports. We'll read your email on the show and respond.
