We need to have a culture of running towards the lost. In Luke 15, we see Jesus use the parable of the Prodigal Son. Who ran off with his father's wealth and wasted it. Eventually the son realizes he needs to come home. When he meets with his father, his father embraces him because he is his child. This is the perfect picture of our heavenly Father who wants to embrace us. It doesn't matter how life has treated you, all that matters is that you belong to God.
