2022.01.23 Joe Helg (What We Get to Do with God)

Up to now in Deuteronomy, Moses is recounting to the people their past… the spies being sent; their rebellion against the Lord; their wilderness wandering; their victory over Sihon & Og; the dividing of the land; even Moses’ rejection from the Promised Land. Then there’s this call to obedience; God establishing His place of sovereignty and practical instructions for how they are to conduct themselves as a society… e.g. the cities of refuge, the re-introduction of God’s Law, the charge to families & raising children etc. This, then, brings us to ch7… there are these specific exhortations as to WHAT THEY MUST do WITH the Lord in the claiming of and in the living IN the Promised Land… specifically, in the ‘driving out the foreign nations’ So, how are they going to go about conquering a land that, was already occupied by ‘others’ who claimed it as their own?
