2022.05.01 Joe Helg (Counting the Cost - Luke 14:25-35)

Last week we touched on ‘Wanting to See Jesus’ – and the things Zacchaeus was willing to do to ‘catch a glimpse’ of the Lord (see Luke 19:1-10). This actually has relevance for today’s message because it’s the Lord emphasizing a reality that a lot of us know and are willing to exercise… when we WANT something! There are always prices we are willing to pay for things that we ‘want’ – Joshua wanting to stay in the Tabernacle (Ex 33:11); Jonah wanting to run away from God (Jon1:2); or Zacchaeus (Luke 19:3) wanting to see Jesus… all willing to pay the price & suffer the consequence for ‘what they wanted.’ Today's message is a challenge to us whether we have considered the cost we are, willing, to pay to be a disciple of Jesus.
