2022.05.22 Joe Helg (The Disciple's Call - Luke 5:1-11)

Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where He was tempted of the devil. He has now returned in the power of the Spirit and is standing out as someone completely different from the religious leaders of the day. (see Luke 4). As He stands out, we begin this chapter with people crowding around Him listening to the Word of God. Jesus proclaims of a message that spoke to the hearts of the people. He wasn’t spitting ‘facts alone’ nor was He a teacher of knowledge that had no real impact or effect in life. Rather He taught truths that ‘personalized’ God as SOMEONE nigh at hand and not just afar off.  You see His interaction with the ‘average joe (Joseph Mt 1), the alienated leper (Mt 8), the outcast of society (Jn 4), or just curious kids’ (mt 19), and you see the heart of God for… people!’.
