In this episode, English golf betting expert Tom Jacobs look back at a memorable PGA Championship, where Justin Thomas captured for the second time after defeating Will Zalatoris in a three-hole playoff at Southern Hills. First, heading into the week. we both picked Thomas to win the Wanamaker Trophy. We each give our reasons why JT was a great fit for the PGA after contending several times in 2022. Tom knew JT would win, and he only needed a good putting win. Despite the win, we both knew Thomas was fortunate with Mito Pereira hitting his drive at the 18th hole into the water. I thought Thomas's back-to-back 67's in windy looked more impressive than other golfer. After his birdie at the 12th, I knew Thomas could catch the leaders to win. JT overcame a seven-shot deficit, which was the largest 54-hole comeback since Paul Lawrie's 10-shot comeback at the 1999 Open Championship. Then, we look at Will Zaltoris' major consistency. In just eight major starts, Zalatoris has finished in the top-eight five times. Tom is worried about Zalatoris' consistency without winning. We both believe Zalatoris could follow Scottie Scheffler's path to winning soon. We also answer what happened with Pereira in his tee shot, which resulted in a double bogey and falling one shot out of the playoff. We both felt sorry for Mito, and it seemed like nobody wanted to win with so many players without a major. I explain how everyone has hit bad shots, and he can look back on an amazing week of positive golf. We then look at who disappointed us at Southern Hills. I immediately pick Rory Mcllroy. After his opening-round 65, Rory could not keep the strong play going after a strong shot. After four straight birdies, Rory did not make another birdie after the fifth hole despite great approaches. Tom looks back at Rory's second-round 71 when many golfers took advantage of calmer winds in the better side of the draw. Rory has also not won a major since the 2014 PGA Championship, and his inability to win a major concerns us.
