I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this rain, but it's my destiny to be the king of pain. Jesus, I thank you today for so many pains that you have saved me from, so many joys and blessings that you have given me. Truly, I am blessed beyond all measure. And yet I come to you, Jesus, and help me to be honest with you about all of the ways in which I am daily tempted to magnify my pain, to be tempted to self pity, for all the ways that I'm tempted to run away from and cover over the real pains that I do still have, for all my temptations to run away from the pains that I have caused others. Jesus, help me to be honest with you about pain and all of the ways that I have too often served it as a false idol. Jesus, please dethrone the king of pain in my life and help me to serve you instead. Jesus, please take away from all of us the burdens that you never intended for us to carry and fill us with your light and your love and your joy, and please bless everyone whom you love. Today I have this hope in the depth of my soul. In the flood or the fire, you are with me and you won't let go. Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for creating us, giving us life. Please fill us with your life again today. Please make all things new today in your great love and in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
