WINTER VEIL MULLED WINE Yield: 4–6 servings Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 15–20 minutes Method: Stovetop Ingredients: 1 (750 ml) bottle dry red wine (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or a red blend work well) 2 cinnamon sticks 4 whole cloves 2 whole star anise 1 teaspoon allspice berries, lightly crushed Peel of 1 orange ½ cup fresh orange juice 2–3 tablespoons honey or brown sugar (to taste) ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg Instructions: Pour the red wine into a large pot and place over low heat. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, allspice berries, and orange peel. Stir in the orange juice, honey (or brown sugar), and nutmeg. Heat gently, never allowing the mixture to boil. Simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Strain spices if desired and serve warm in mugs. Notes: Do not boil — boiling cooks off the alcohol and alters the flavor. Garnish with an orange slice or cinnamon stick if you’re feeling fancy. Best enjoyed near a fire, before a raid, or while questioning Azerothian history.
